Kefas Pays Tribute To Veteran Journalist Adaji, Condoles NUJ, Family

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has paid glowing tribute to a veteran journalist and traditional title holder, Chief Ben Adaji, describing him as a courageous media professional and a defender of democratic values.

Chief Adaji reportedly died on Saturday at about 4 p.m. in his hometown of Abo-Ojikpadala, Imane District, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, at the age of 67.

In a press statement issued to newsmen by the Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication to the Governor, Chief Emmanuel Bello, quoted the governor as saying that, “the late Adaji was a fearless journalist, champion of free speech and a committed professional, whose contributions to the media industry would remain unforgettable.”

Governor Kefas, said the deceased had distinguished himself through ethical reporting, courage and unwavering adherence to the principles of journalism during his lifetime.

He noted that, his work had helped strengthen democratic values and accountability in society.

The governor recalled the late journalist’s numerous encounters with authority, particularly during the military era, saying his steadfast commitment to truth and justice earned him respect across the country.

“Chief Ben Adaji was a hero of democracy and an outstanding example of journalistic excellence. His life was defined by integrity, professionalism and service to humanity,” the governor stated.

Late Adaji, worked with several media organisations, including The News Magazine, The Nation and National Trail, and was until his death, the Taraba State correspondent of Al Jazeera Nigeria Newspaper.

He also served as chairman of the Taraba State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Governor Kefas, extended his condolences to the family, colleagues and associates of the deceased, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
