Taraba state governor, Agbu Kefas, has redeemed his pledge of N100 million financial intervention to the Christian community in Donga local government area.

This is part of efforts to strengthen peace and reconciliation, following the November 2025 religious crisis in the area.

A statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Zainab Jalingo, said, the gesture was to promote fairness, rebuild trust and encourage harmonious coexistence among the affected communities.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of the governor, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government, Traditions and Chieftaincy Affairs, Godfrey Andrew, described the gesture as a demonstration of Governor Kefas’ commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable peace across the state.

Andrew said, the governor believes that lasting development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace, unity and mutual respect.

He stressed that the administration remains committed to policies that promote reconciliation, justice and equal opportunities for all residents, irrespective of religious or ethnic background.

He added that, the N100 million support was not only the fulfilment of a promise made after the crisis but also a demonstration of the government’s resolve to restore hope among affected communities.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, leader of the Christian community commended Governor Kefas for honouring his commitment.

He said, the intervention was a major step towards healing, reconciliation and renewed confidence in government.

He pledged to utilise the funds for initiatives that would promote peace, community development and peaceful coexistence in Donga Local Government Area.
