The chairman of Keffi local government area of Nasarawa State, Muhammad Baba Shehu, has announced the suspension of the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on the council’s headquarters in the wake of the August 1 nationwide protest.
He announced the suspension in a statement yesterday.
He said it was suspended following advice from security agencies who are on the alert in the event of any breach of the peace.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule, the federal government as well as security agencies for managing the protest in line with the laws of the land.
He also appreciated the Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Cindo Yamusa lll for the fatherly role he played which helped to douse tension during the protest.
“I also appreciate the good people of Keffi for exhibiting high sense of maturity during the protest, despite little challenges perpetuated by some miscreants.
“Finally, I want to use this medium to convey the council’s regret for any inconvenience the curfew might have cause innocent citizens,” he stated.
