The Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) Board has approved the establishment of a Nigerian Karate League and constituted multiple committees to oversee administration and technical development, following its inaugural meeting under President Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa.
The board appointed Florrie Omueti as Chairman of the Marketing, Sponsorship, Partnership and Finance Committee; Zainab Saleh to head Organising, Competition and Welfare; Bashari Maizari as Ethics and Disciplinary Committee chairman; Oluwasogo Ogunleye to lead Youth, School Sports and Women; James Aina as Technical Committee chairman; and Olusegun Akinola to head the Nigeria Karate Referee Commission.
The board also approved the Nigeria Karate Coaches Association, Nigeria Para-Karate Commission, National Grading/Homologation Committee, Nigeria University Karate Association, and the Nigerian Karate League Commission, chaired by newly co-opted board member Amakiri Oruamabo.
In a separate resolution, the board lifted the suspension of Dave Jegede and appointed him Technical Director. Ohis Asein of FAKS Media was named Head of Media.
The board granted technical approval for the proposed league and approved Nigeria’s participation in the UFAK African Championship in Algeria (Sept. 6-13, 2026), directing officials to begin athlete preparations.
It ratified the earlier leadership change notification sent to the World Karate Federation and Union of African Karate Federations.
A one-year activity calendar (August 2026–August 2027) was approved, and preparations for the Japanese Ambassador’s Karate Championship were discussed.
On funding, the board approved facilitation fee payments for secured sponsorships on a case-by-case basis, rejecting a fixed percentage model.
The board directed the restoration of KFN’s official website and social media platforms and reaffirmed that all official communications must go through the Secretary General or constitutionally authorized officials.
Dimkpa called for unity among Nigerian karate stakeholders, emphasizing professionalism and constitutional adherence.
