The abducted female lecturer of the Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK), Dr Comfort Adokwe, has regained her freedom after three days in captivity.

Dr Adokwe was released Tuesday night after a payment of N5million ransom by her family, our correspondent gathered on Wednesday.

Recall that Dr Adokwe, a lecturer at the Faculty of Administration and Deputy Director of Gender Studies, was abducted from her home in Angwan Jaba in Keffi town, by gunmen Sunday night.

The assailants were said to have stormed the residence, shot sporadically into the air before making away with the lecturer.

LEADERSHIP had earlier reported that her abductors demanded N15million for her release, an amount family members said was too much for them to afford.

However, a family member, Mr. Timothy Adokwe, told journalists that the lecturer was released from captivity at about 10pm Tuesday night after the ransom was paid.

He said a family member delivered the ransom to a designated location before the lecturer was released to them.

He said security agents did their best by tracking the kidnappers, but were prevailed upon from taking any drastic measures that would put the life of the lecturer at risk.

“We are more interested in securing our sister. The security agents tried their best, they helped in tracking them.

“But based on the warning by her abductors that they will kill her if anything happens, we pleaded with the security agents not to do anything that will undermine her safety.

“I know that the security agents were monitoring everything and may go after them.

“We wish to thank everyone that assisted in one way or other in her release,” he stated.
