Gunmen, who abducted pupils and teachers from the Apostolic School, Emure-Ekiti, have demanded a ransom of N10 million for each of the victims.
The school bus, carrying the pupils, teachers, and the driver, was seized at around 5:00 p.m. on Monday at Eporo-Ekiti in the Emure area of the state.
Reports revealed that six pupils, three teachers, and the bus driver were kidnapped and taken to a forest.
A reliable family source in the community, according to the Nigerian Tribune, said that the abductors made contact with the parents and relatives of the victims on Tuesday.
The kidnappers are demanding N10 million each for the 10 victims, totaling N100 million.
“They were kidnapped after their school bus was intercepted in Eporo-Ekiti, near the Ondo State boundary, on Monday evening while returning from school,” the source reportedly said.
“I have a tenant whose wife and child are among the victims. The man received a call from the kidnappers on Tuesday afternoon demanding N10 million each for the 10 victims they have with them.”
The kidnappers have threatened to harm the victims if the ransom is not raised quickly. This has caused confusion and apprehension among the community.
The parents have appealed to the state and federal governments, as well as security agencies, to ensure the safe return of their children.
This abduction occurred on the same day that gunmen killed two traditional rulers in the Oke-Ako axis of the Ikole Local Government Area of the state.
