Kogi Monarch Calls For Peace, Unity At Second Anniversary

The Maigari of Lokoja and chairman, Lokoja Local Government Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, has called on residents of the town to continue to uphold peace, unity and mutual understanding.

He made the call during the activities to mark his second anniversary in Lokoja. The traditional ruler expressed gratitude to God and his people for their prayers, support and cooperation since his ascension and described the past two years as a period of service, learning and dedication to community development.

Kabir urged traditional rulers, community leaders and youths to sustain the harmony and security in Lokoja, stressing that peaceful coexistence remains the foundation for meaningful development.

In a gesture of compassion, the royal father distributed food items and cash to persons with physical disabilities and visited health facilities as part of the activities marking the anniversary.

The Maigari reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity among the diverse communities in Lokoja and pledged continued collaboration with the government and relevant stakeholders to promote traditional values, peace and socio-economic development.

He commended the Kogi State government for its continued support for the traditional institutions and appealed for sustained partnership in addressing community challenges and strengthening grassroots governance.

The event attracted traditional title holders, community leaders, religious leaders and well-wishers, who offered prayers for the monarch’s continued good health, wisdom and a successful reign.

Highlights of the anniversary included the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, special prayers for peace and unity in Lokoja and Kogi State, which were presided over by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammad Aminu Sha’aban, as well as the turbaning of Sarkin Maikafi, Wakilin Fulani and Sarkin Itace.
