The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic has approved the first semester results for the 2025/2026 academic session and sanctioned the withdrawal of 229 students over poor academic performance.

The decision was reached during the Academic Board meeting held on May 12, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Coordinator of Public Relations and Protocols of the institution, John Amos Onimisi.

According to him, the meeting was attended by principal officers, deans, heads of departments, and other members of the Academic Board, who deliberated extensively on academic matters affecting the institution.

Onimisi explained that the approval of the results followed a rigorous verification exercise conducted by the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee.

“The approval of the results followed a rigorous and comprehensive verification exercise conducted by the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee. The committee carefully scrutinised and authenticated submissions from various departments and schools to ensure accuracy, fairness, and compliance with the Polytechnic’s academic regulations,” he said.

He added that the committee’s report served as a critical guide in the board’s deliberations and final decisions on the results.

Following the approval, the rector commended members of the verification committee for their diligence, commitment, and professionalism in carrying out the assignment.

According to the statement, Avidime said the committee’s efforts had continued to strengthen the institution’s academic integrity and uphold high educational standards.

He noted that the exercise contributes significantly to the production of competent and academically sound graduates capable of excelling in their respective fields.

The board maintained that the decision to withdraw the affected students was taken in the interest of sustaining academic excellence and preserving the quality of certificates awarded by the institution.

It added that the measure aligns with the polytechnic’s academic regulations and is aimed at encouraging seriousness, discipline, and improved academic commitment among students across all programmes.
