The Kogi State commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza has reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to addressing the health needs of all citizens, regardless of their social status.
He emphasised that access to quality healthcare services is a fundamental right for everyone.
Dr. Abdulazeez stated this during an official presentation of relief materials and medical supplies to the state commandant of the Nigerian Correctional Services, aimed at enhancing the care provided to inmates in their custody.
The commissioner, represented by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Momoh Steven, reiterated the government’s dedication to achieving equitable healthcare delivery across all segments of Kogi State and pledged full commitment to improving healthcare services and access throughout the state.
The commissioner commended the Correctional Services for prioritising their inmates’ health and hygiene needs and encouraged them to continue ensuring effective security and care for the community.
In his remarks, the state commandant of the Nigerian Correctional Service, represented by the public relations officer, (PRO) of the service, Sesan Niyi, noted that this initiative marks a historic moment for the state, when the Correctional Services will receive such significant support from the Kogi State Government in the area of healthcare for the first time.
He expressed gratitude to the governor for fostering peaceful co-existence in the state and for appointing a capable commissioner, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, to lead the health sector.
The items presented during the visit of the commissioner include malaria medications, testing kits, and hygiene products.
