Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammed Badaru Abubakar, has assured that the kidnapped students of Kuriga in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State will soon be rescued.
The minister also spoke about the killing of military officers and soldiers in Okuama community of Delta State, saying the killers would be fished out and dealt with squarely.
He spoke in Kaduna while addressing troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army who are on the frontline against bandits in the North-Western states of the country when he visited to condole and encourage them.
It would be recalled that 17 soldiers and officers were killed in Okuama community of Delta State last week.
The defence minister told the troops that President Bola Tinubu is aware of their sacrifices and happy with their efforts, and while commending your efforts, has also asked that you do more to end all forms of insecurity in Nigeria.
“We have the power, will and determination and our morale is high to end insecurity. I know what you have been doing to rescue the school children unhurt. Keep the morale high, the president is behind you 100 per cent,” he said.
On the killing of soldiers in Delta State, the minister described the incident as sad and unfortunate.
While sympathising with families of the soldiers, he assured; “We will find the killers of our soldiers and deal with them. You don’t kill our men and go scot-free, we will deal with them squarely.”
On the abduction of the 287 students of Kuriga, the minister further assured that there will be good news soon as all efforts and necessary measures were being put in place to rescue them.
