A coalition of youth groups in Kajuru local government area has demanded a public apology from the council chairman, Hon. Dauda Madaki, over his reported denial of the mass abduction of Christian worshippers in Kurmin Wali.
The coalition, which includes the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) Kajuru Chapter, the Adara Youth Congress, the Southern Kaduna Youth and Students Forum (SKYSFORM) and Kajuru Youth Advocates, described the attack during church service hours as a stark reflection of worsening insecurity and a direct threat to the sanctity of human life in the area.
Addressing a press conference yesterday in Kaduna, the chairman YOWICAN Kajuru chapter, Raymond Reuben Audu, called the abduction a “heinous attack” and expressed outrage over the LGA chairman’s reported attempt to downplay the incident on national television.
“Our communities are mourning kidnapped worshippers, yet the chairman chose denial over accountability. Such acts compound the trauma experienced by victims and their families,” he said.
Audu said the incident showed serious lapses in local security management.
“Bandits operate with chilling impunity. The lives of our people are constantly at risk, and denial by our leaders only deepens our vulnerability,” he lamented.
Audu said the coalition would remain vigilant until the abducted individuals were safely returned and demanded that the LGA chairman issue an unreserved public apology on national television, the same platform where the denial was made.
The coalition lauded Governor Uba Sani for his swift response and empathetic leadership, saying the governor’s on-the-spot assessment of the affected areas provided “a glimmer of hope” to residents who have long felt neglected.
The coalition also praised the commencement of the long-promised access road to Kurmin Wali on January 24, 2026, describing it as critical for security response and rural development.
Other leaders from SKYSFORM, the Adara Youth Congress, and Kajuru Youth Advocates echoed Audu’s call, insisting that the people of Kajuru deserve leadership that prioritises human lives over political optics.
