 The Islamic centre is meant to provide access for almajiris who have memorised the holy quran to be trained and certified with primary, secondary and diploma certificates.

They will undergo training in both English Language and Arabic studies.

Delivering his address at the inauguration ceremony, Kwankwaso explained that the institute was an idea to make sure that the streets are not only relived of beggars, but also for those seen to be begging provided with life opportunities.

He announced that the institute, which was carved out of his Miller Road residence, henceforth belongs to humanity in general.

“It has a curriculum in which men and women will be trained within the shortest possible time to get them primary and secondary certificates and give them diploma in Islamic education. With this they can go to university and the sky will be the limit for them.

“They will be given the opportunity to be certified and accommodated in the system,” he said.

The Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, thanked Kwankwaso for the initiative which he said would provide a ground for further development in the education sector in the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf has felicitated with Kwankwaso on his 67th birthday, describing him as a man of principle, courage, patience, perseverance  and foresight.

In a statement made available to newsmen yesterday, the governor said;

“Your ideology of human capital development  and passion for the masses is a great example to all contemporary leaders.”

Yusuf further said the achievements of the celebrant speak volumes of his selflessness and political dexterity to serve the state and the nation at all times.

He prayed that Senator Kwankwaso  continues in good health and wisdom to lead his supporters.
