Vice Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that he is planning to organise protests over the worsening insecurity in the country.

Kwankwaso described the claims as false and misleading, urging Nigerians to disregard the reports, which he said were aimed at creating confusion and misrepresenting his position.

In a statement posted on his official X handle on Monday, the former Kano State governor said neither he nor the NDC supports any action capable of disrupting public peace or causing a breakdown of law and order.

“Our attention has been drawn to a message currently circulating on social media falsely claiming that we are planning a protest over the rising insecurity in the country,” he stated.

“We do not support any action that could lead to the breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property. As responsible leaders, we remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges.”

Kwankwaso reaffirmed the party’s commitment to democratic principles, stressing that elections remain the most legitimate avenue for citizens to express dissatisfaction and pursue political change.

“As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change,” he said.

The NDC vice-presidential candidate expressed confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, noting that it remains focused on securing victory in the forthcoming elections through lawful and democratic means.

“Our party, the NDC, is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means,” he added.

Kwankwaso also cautioned Nigerians against falling for what he described as deliberate disinformation campaigns designed to mislead the public and incite unnecessary tension.

He urged citizens to verify information before sharing it, particularly on social media platforms where false narratives can spread rapidly.

Reiterating his commitment to peaceful political engagement, Kwankwaso said he would continue to advocate issue-based politics and constructive dialogue as the country prepares for the next general elections.

The statement comes amid heightened public concern over security challenges across several parts of the country and growing political activities ahead of the election season.
