The Kwankwasiyya Movement has announced that its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has concluded arrangements to join the African Democratic Congress.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the movement disclosed that Kwankwaso will formally register with the ADC on Monday, March 30, at his residence in Kano.
According to the statement, the former Kano State governor is expected to complete his registration at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, located on Miller Road, by noon.
The development comes after Kwankwaso’s resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party, where he served as National Leader and presidential candidate in the 2023 General Elections.
Following the announcement, the Kwankwasiyya Movement directed its members across the country to immediately begin registration with the ADC at their respective ward, local government, and state levels. The group also urged members to actively participate in party activities and contribute to its growth.
The movement described the decision as “strategic,” noting that it was taken in the best interest of its members and the country. It added that the move reflects its commitment to democratic values, good governance, and the aspirations of Nigerians.
“We emphasize that democracy must be protected, and the will of the people must always be respected,” the statement read.
The spokesperson of the movement, Habibu Sale Mohammed, reaffirmed the group’s unity and resolve, stating that it remains committed to building a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.
Kwankwaso’s planned defection to the ADC is expected to reshape political alignments ahead of future elections, particularly as opposition figures continue to explore new platforms and alliances.
End.
