It was a classical event to remember, as the electrifying Trailblazer Choir, fast rising King D, ace music director, Gbenga Kehinde and other Gospel artistes unleashed superb performances to wow music lovers at the birthday event of multiple award winning pioneer Gospel music media mogul and Promoter, Dr. (Mrs). Dolapo Kwapowe, popularly known as Pastor Dee.
The event doubles as a thanksgiving service and concert, was held on Sunday at Elim Chapel auditorium, Ketu, Lagos. According to the organizers, the Excellent Men and Women Fellowships, Kings and Queen Youth Club and Dynamic Teens Fellowship, it was held in her honour for her unprecedented impact in the lives of people of all ages, tribes, career and faith in Nigeria and beyond over the decades.
Pastor Dee, the renowned pharmacist turn cleric, publisher and cleric, founded the pioneer gospel entertainment and lifestyle media, “New Creation” magazine, with her childhood best friend late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya of blessed memory, in the early 90s. Through this powerful media platform great entertainment and gospel global music talents such as Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo of Winning Ways Concert, Pastor Pastor Kunle Ajayi, RCCG Worldwide Music Director, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, (then known as Brother Adeolu Adefarasin), of “The Experience Concert”, Funmi Aragbaiye, fromer GOMAN president, Lorine Okotie, Dupe Olulana, Dr Panam Percy Paul, late Sammie Okposo, Pat Uwaje-King, leader of the “Midnight Crew”, (who commenced her music career as a member of her Church choir), and Nollywood icons Richard Mofe Damijo, (RMD) and Gbenga Adefolalu, and so many others, were nurtured and promoted to stardom.
The well attended event witnessed overwhelming outpouring of encomium and tribute to Pastor Dee by her proteges mentees and well- wishers prior to the event. Legendary Dupe Olulana who prayed for fruitful years for her, acknowledged Pastor Dee’s impact in the early stage of her music ministry. “I have known her from our university days, as a good Christian in our campus Fellowship. I am glad she hasn’t changed, and she is still doing great works for God”, said the internationally acclaimed award winning gospel artiste.
“ Our Mama, I pray as you grow in age, you will grow in wisdom of God, favour of God and man. Thank you for your care and exemplary leadership”, said Deacon Olayinka Adeniran, National President, Excellent Men Fellowship. In his tribute, Prince Kingsley Ekeh, said “God will continue to favour you everywhere you go. You are such a strong woman to emulate, a good mentor. I pray for more strength to do greater exploits for God.”
Their melodious vocal prowess of Trailblazer Choir led by Oyinlola Wonder and Oladimeji Olatunji aka King D, backed up by amazing keyboard skillful display of ace musicologist, Gbenga Kehinde, excited the audience to the dance floor, as the electrified the whole venue.
They took their performance to another level when they sonorously rendered a powerful dance laced medley of Nigerian and foreign songs. . Their electrifying renditions received thunderous applause from the joyfully dazzed the audience.
The prestigious event was graced by eminent personalities such as Pastor Segun Talabi, Pastor Eunice Adeola, Elder Lateef Olatunji, National Vice- President, Excellent Men Fellowship, Prince Engineer Kingsley Ekeh, Hon.
