A coalition of youths in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has appealed to the party’s national leadership to review the outcome of the governorship primary election in the state.
It warned that the ruling party risks losing the state in the 2027 general election if concerns raised by stakeholders are not addressed.
The group, operating under the umbrella of the Coalition of APC Youths, yesterday stormed the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, where its members submitted a petition urging the party to endorse Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The petition, signed by the coalition’s coordinator, Comrade Babajide Ode, was addressed to the APC national chairman and copied to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s deputy national chairman (North), the North-Central zonal leadership and other critical stakeholders in the ruling party.
According to the coalition, Seriki Gambari remains the most acceptable and electable aspirant within the APC, with the political strength and grassroots appeal needed to secure the party’s victory in Kwara State.
The group said its position followed extensive consultations and assessments conducted across the state’s political landscape, which allegedly revealed broad-based support for Seriki cutting across ethnic, religious and senatorial boundaries.
“Our findings indicate that Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari remains the most acceptable, marketable and widely supported aspirant capable of securing victory for the APC in the forthcoming governorship election in Kwara State in 2027,” the petition stated.
