Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Wednesday inaugurated the 4.779km Yebumot-Adeta Roundabout and Adeta- Oloje roads in Ilorin, the state capital.

Governor AbdulRazaq also named Yebumot – Adeta road after retired Major-General Abdullahi Mohammed, while the Adeta to Oloje road is named after a late prominent Muslim scholar, Sheikh Yahya Murtadha Agodi.

The governor noted that rechristening the two roads after these eminent citizens from Ilorin was informed by their contributions to the growth and the prestige of the capital city.

“One of the social contracts we have with the people is to deploy resources to improve the condition of living through the provision of infrastructure. The launching this morning of the 4.779 Yebumot-Adeta-Oloje road satisfies this key objective,” AbdulRazaq said at the brief ceremony held at the newly designed Adeta roundabout.

Speaking on the benefits of the roads to users, Governor AbdulRazaq said “travel time will be reduced within the axis, volume of trade will rise, the value properties will appreciate, and quality of life will be enhanced, among other benefits we can think of,” the governor said.

The governor thanked the people of the community for their patience while the job lasted, acknowledging the difficulties that came with the delays associated with sudden inflationary trends and the renegotiation of the terms of contract, among other challenges.

“I urge community folks to take responsibility for public facilities. The Ministry of Works and Transport will continue to enlighten the people about road management and a need for everyone to own and protect public infrastructures in their domains,” the Governor said.

In his remarks, the state’s Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr AbdulQuawiy Olododo commended AbdulRazaq for his vision for a modern Kwara and for his continuous support for the ministry to discharge its responsibilities.

“This project is more than just a road; it is a symbol of progress, a testament to this administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development, and a beacon of hope for a brighter future.

“This road is more than just a transportation artery; it is a lifeline connecting our people, businesses, and communities. It is a catalyst for economic growth and sustainable development and a symbol of our unrelenting pursuit of excellence,” Olododo added.
