The senator representing Kwara north in the National Assembly, Sadiq Umar has sponsored 58 youths for a mentorship and fellowship programme.
The opening ceremony of the event which featured resource persons from far and near was held at the ultra- modern Ilorin Innovation Hub.
It also attracted the presence of the All Progressives Congress (APC)chieftains, relevant stakeholders and the mentees who were drawn from the 16 local government areas of the state.
The five- day event has “Empowering young leaders for a bright and more prosperous future for Kwara State as its theme.
The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq who made an appearance at the venue of the training on Tuesday, commended Senator Sadiq Umar for his foresight and genuine passion for the development of young minds in Kwara north and beyond.
He praised the structure and vision behind the programme, emphasising its alignment with the broader developmental agenda of the Kwara State government.
“This initiative reflects the kind of intentional efforts we must all support to nurture the next generation of leaders. I congratulate the participants and encourage you to seize this opportunity for self-discovery, personal growth, and impactful service to your communities,” the governor said.
AbdulRazaq assured the beneficiaries of his administration’s consistent efforts at expanding opportunities for youth engagement, education, digital skills development, and entrepreneurship across the state.
The governor presented laptops and other learning materials to the participants to aid their training and productivity during the course of the fellowship.
The sponsor of the programme, Senator Sadiq Umar said he organised the programme to compliment the efforts of the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on youth empowerment.
He said the participants would be further assisted in securing employment after the completion of the programme by linking them up with necessary local and international firms where the skills learned at the programmes could be needed.
Umar said the training was information communication technology ( ICT) – driven to enable the beneficiaries compete favourably with their peers all over the globe.
The chief executive officer of Dailycare Solution, Dr Lanre Shittu who led the technical session tutored the beneficiaries on ways of harnessing hardship for growth .
He reflected on on the current reality of an average Kwaran and Nigerian and the need for a change in mindset as essential principles of thriving in difficulty situations.
