Kwara Seals 8 Hotels Over Regulatory Violations

The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) has sealed eight hotels in Ilorin, the state capital for operating without the requisite documentation and failing to comply with established regulatory standards governing the establishments of hospitality businesses in the State.

The enforcement exercise, which followed notifications and warnings, was conducted by the Head of Department for Hotels at KWEPA, Mr. Aminullahi AbdulRahman.

AbdulRaheem disclosed that the affected hotels had been given ample time to regularise their operations, but they persistently ignored the agency’s directives.

General Manager of KWEPA, Hon. Jide Aina said that the exercise was conducted in accordance with the Kwara State Environmental Law.

He stated that the enforcement was not aimed at intimidating any business or individuals, but a necessary step to curb environmental infractions and uphold public health standards.

“This is not about targeting businesses but about ensuring that hospitality operators adhere to both local and international standards. A clean, safe, and healthy environment remains a top priority for the Kwara State government,” Aina stated.

He added that enforcing compliance within the hospitality sector will help protect residents, promote public health, and foster a welcoming environment for investors and tourists alike.
