Kwara Varsity Elevates 28 To Professorial Rank

The Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete has at its approved the promotion of three (3) staff to the rank of professor while twenty-five (25) others were promoted to associate professor.

A statement signed by the Acting Director, University Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu said the university ‘s Council ratified the appointments of the professors and associate professors at its 73rd meeting, held on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

The newly promoted professors, from the faculties of Agriculture, Arts, and Education are Prof. Shehu Abdulganiyu Salau whose specialisation is Agricultural Production Economics, Prof. Moshood Zakariyah with specialisation in Sociolinguistics, and Professor Olayiwola Gafar Olorisade, a professor of Educational Administration.

The associate professors are from the faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Education, Engineering and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Law, Management and Social Sciences, and Pure and Applied Sciences.

The Faculty of Agriculture has Dr. Latifat Olatinwo and Dr. Felicia Olooto, both Agriculture Extension and Rural Development specialists; Dr. Olarinke Adeniyi, a specialist in Aquaculture Management; Dr. James Adebayo Ojo with specialisation in Entomology; and Dr. Akeem Raji, a specialist in Food Processing Technology.

From the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Yahya Toyin Muritala, an Arabic Syntax and Modern Arabic Linguistics and Translation specialist; Dr. Yunusa Jamiu, a Modern Arabic Literature specialist; Dr. Oluwatomi Adeoti, a Pragmatics and Discourse Studies specialist; Dr. Sherifat Abubakar, a specialist in Islamic Family Law and Gender Studies; and Dr. Khalid I Bello, a specialist in Islamic Economics were ratified as associate professors.

The Faculty of Engineering produced Dr. Olalekan Ogunbiyi with specialization in Power System and Automatic Control Engineering; Dr. Rasheed Busari with specialisation in Farm Power and Machinery, and Engineer Dr. Kamoru Oladosu, a specialist in Production and Renewable Energy as associate professors.

Dr. Usman Tunde Saadu of the Faculty of Education, who specialises in Educational Psychology and Dr. Ronke Seyi Babatunde of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, who specialises in Machine Learning and AI, were confirmed by the Governing Council as associate professors.

Dr. Olariyike Akintoye and Dr. Abdullahi Ishola, both of the Faculty of Law, and with specialisation in Property and Business Law, and Islamic Law, respectively, were also confirmed as associate professors.

The Council of the University equally ratified the promotion of Dr. Abdullahi Alabi, a Comparative Politics and Administration specialist; Dr. Idris Mohammed, a Development Studies and Local Government Administration specialist; and Dr. Ibrahim Salawu, a Public Policy and Governance specialist to the rank of associate professor.

At the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science, Dr. Emmanuel Irondi, a Food and Nutritional Biochemistry specialist; Dr. Abdulazeez Jimoh, a Numerical Analysis and Computational Mathematics specialist; Dr. Kazeem Issa with specialisation in Numerical Analysis; Dr. Wasiu Yahya, a Theoretical and Computational Physics specialist; and Dr. Abiodun Obembe, specialisation in Entomology were promoted to the rank of associate professor.
