The Director-General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin, Comrade Issa Aremu, has urged Nigerian workers to give maximum support to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to achieve sustainable development.

Aremu made the call during the institute’s May Day lecture. He described the Tinubu-led administration as worker-friendly, noting that despite prevailing economic challenges, the government has not retrenched workers.

Instead, he said, it has created jobs, restored gratuity payments, increased salaries, and ensured their regular payment.

He commended President Tinubu for these efforts and urged workers to support his second-term bid, while cautioning against what he termed “emerging messiahs” in the political landscape.

In his lecture, the Director of Human Resources Management at MINILS, Dr. Danjuma Lawal, stressed the importance of fostering cordial and strong relationships between employers and employees for meaningful development.

According to him, no organisation can thrive in an atmosphere of rancour, underscoring the need for mutual understanding and amicable dispute resolution in the workplace.

Also speaking, Dr. Moshood Lawal advised union leaders to prioritise their primary responsibilities at their workplaces, urging them to place duty above union activities.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the organising committee of the May Day lecture, Mrs. Rachael Solomon, commended the MINILS Director-General, Comrade Issa Aremu, for his initiatives. She expressed confidence that the May Day lecture would boost staff morale and enhance productivity.
