The Labour Party has reaffirmed its commitment to building a nation founded on equal opportunity, social justice and good governance, despite recent challenges and defections.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) gave this indication during a meeting to wish former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, well in his future political endeavors, following his exit from LP to African Democratic Congress.
The NWC, chaired by Senator Nenadi Usman, also affirmed its recognition of Governor Alex Chioma Otti as the National Leader of the Labour Party.
It urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accord Senator Usman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha all rights and privileges attached to their offices.
The party expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their continued interest and confidence in LP and urged citizens to participate in the ongoing membership revalidation and registration exercise.
“The Labour Party remains committed to ensuring credible, transparent, and inclusive congresses, and has reaffirmed that all congresses and the National Convention shall hold accordingly, in strict compliance with the party constitution,” the party said.
