The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Senate Matters, Senator Bashir Lado, has showered gifts of houses, cash, tricycles and scholarship up to university level, Umrah and books to winners of the just-concluded Qur’anic Competition in memory of Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji Tinubu, the president’s late mother.
The grand winner of first place in the male category, Ahmad Shua’aibu, from Shanono local government area, and the female category winner, Maryam Abubakar, from Dala local government area, received a four-bedroom flat each, a scholarship from Qatar Charity Foundation up to university level, N1 million cash, and books.
At the event which ended in Kano on Tuesday, Senator Lado called on the parents and guardians of the winners to consider the gifts as responsibilities and utilise them diligently.
He further prayed that the Almighty Allah would reward the president’s late mother and make the competition a ‘Sadaqatu Jariyya’ to her.
The competition is in five categories that include portions of the Quran from 2 Hizb, 10 Hizb, 20 Hizb, 40 Hizb and 60 Hizb for both males and females.
“Today, we gather not just to celebrate, but to reflect on the power of the Qur’an, the sacrifice of parents, and the endless mercy of Allah. I begin by thanking the Almighty Allah for granting us success in concluding the maiden edition of the Quranic Recitation Competition, held in honor of the late Hajiya Abibatu Mogaji, OON, MFR, the mother of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
“May Allah forgive her shortcomings, accept this effort on her behalf as sadaqah jariyah, and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus. Ameen.
“To these brilliant young reciters, we say: you have not just won a prize, you have earned a place among the people of the Qur’an Ahlul Qur’an. And so, as a symbol of our appreciation, the four crown winners are being awarded homes as a foundation for their future. Allah (SWT) tells us in the Qur’an:
“We pray these vehicles bring stability and sustainability to your homes, and that they become tools for provision, not distraction.
“And perhaps most inspiring of all, thanks to the generosity of Qatar Charity, these young stars have also earned full scholarships — up to the university level. This is not just a gift; it is a gateway to knowledge.”
