Lafarge Africa Plc has organised medical outreaches in commemoration of World Malaria Day 2025 across its host communities in Lagos, Mfamosing, Ewekoro, Ashaka, and Sagamu, under the theme “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”.
In Lagos, the company partnered with Leadway Health at Oregun Flagship Primary Health Care Centre, Ikeja, Lagos State, where the Occupational Health Coordinator, Lafarge Africa Plc, Dr. Chimaobi Okoronkwo, emphasized the significance of proper malaria diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Okoronkwo, while demonstrating the correct way to use insecticide-treated nets stressed that “nets are not for decorations but life-saving tools that must be used consistently, especially at night.”
Reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting communities in their fight against malaria, Head, Sustainability and Sponsorships, Lafarge Africa Plc, Gabriel Pollyn, stated that the company remains dedicated to fostering a healthier, more sustainable future for all Nigerians by providing necessary support that would address pressing health issues such as malaria.
“As a sustainability-driven organization, we are committed to supporting communities in their fight against malaria. This is not just a medical issue, it is a societal one that impacts our children’s health, and our economy. Preventing malaria is one of the key areas that we must focus on,” he said.
Also speaking, during the outreach, the Community Health Officer, Oregun Flagship Primary Health Care Centre, Mrs. A.O Olaniyan explained that it has become imperative for stakeholders, healthcare professionals and individuals to give adequate attention to combating malaria stating everyone has a critical role to play in preventing the disease. Olaniyan shared key malaria prevention tips, including avoiding stagnant water and the use of mosquito nets. She urged individuals to seek proper medical care rather than self-medication.
