For alternative routes during the marathon, Osiyemi suggested: Apongbon Bridge inwards Eko Bridge through Costain Roundabout to Iponri and Bode Thomas, or Eko Bridge through Costain Roundabout and Apapa Road to link Oyingbo/Jebba to access Herbert Macaulay Road.
“Motorists can also use Victoria Island to connect to the Independence Bridge and CMS Bridge to reach Apongbon inwards Ijora-Olopa to Iddo and Oyingbo, then connect Herbert Macaulay Road to continue their journeys.
He noted, “For those intending to use the Third Mainland Bridge, please be advised that the bridge will be closed to motorists from 12.00 tonight until the end of the marathon.”
Osiyemi mentioned that all outbound journeys from Ikorodu Road and Funsho Williams Avenue en route Lagos Island would be exempted from the diversion.
He assured that officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be stationed at the diversion points to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of motorists.
The commissioner advised motorists with no urgent need to be in the affected areas to seek alternative routes. He confirmed that normal traffic flow on the Third Mainland Bridge would resume immediately following the marathon.
