The Lagos State Government has taken a significant step toward improving urban transportation with the addition of new rolling stock to the Lagos Red Line rail system.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced on Thursday that the state had received a new set of 24-car trains to strengthen operations on the Red Line corridor.

In a statement shared on his verified Facebook page, the governor highlighted the impact of the development on daily commuting across the state.

“We have received a new set of 24-car trains to strengthen the Lagos Red Line fleet,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He noted that the additional trains were expected to significantly enhance the capacity of the rail system, addressing growing commuter demand in Nigeria’s commercial hub.

“This will improve capacity, reduce wait times and make daily commuting easier for Lagosians,” he added.

The Red Line, one of the flagship rail projects under the Lagos State Government’s transport master plan, was designed to ease traffic congestion and provide a reliable alternative to road transportation, particularly along densely populated corridors.

Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a modern and efficient transport network that meets the needs of residents.

“We remain focused on building a transport system that is efficient and reliable for everyone. That is still our goal,” the governor stated.
