Lagos State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has stressed the need for inter-functional collaboration among core professionals in the built environment, saying it remains the panacea for sustainable infrastructure development in the face of the multi-dimensional challenges confronting the state.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Civil Service Commission’s Career Week, held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), the chairman of the commission, Mrs Olubunmi Fabamwo, highlighted the need to leverage the expertise and experience of the diverse pool of professionals in the built sector through effective collaboration for efficient service delivery in the sector.

The chairman stressed that the future of urban development and regeneration in Lagos would be largely predicated on the level and depth of cooperation between the various sub-sectors within the built environment and called for open communication and teamwork among the key players.

Mrs Fabamwo acknowledged the strategic role of professionals in the built sector to infrastructural development and the critical importance of a robust infrastructure as being central to the actualisation of the development aspirations of the THEMES+ Agenda, particularly in a rapidly expanding megacity like Lagos.

She expressed the optimism that going by the theme and content of this year’s career week programme, participants would be exposed to contemporary industry practices and innovations within the built and allied sectors.

She also emphasized the need to be intentional in fostering a better ethical climate and strengthening the existing synergy across different professional lines.

In his goodwill message to declare the career week open, the Head of Service, Mr Olabode Agoro, commended the commission for creating a structured platform for knowledge sharing across different cadres in the built sector with a view to building a dynamic and strong workforce with the capacity to drive the development agenda of the present administration.
