The Lagos State Safety Commission has reiterated its commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of students in Lagos State Model Colleges.
The Director-General of the Safety Commission, Mr Lanre Mojola, stated this at the training programme tagged: Safety sensitisation for house managers, food vendors and stakeholders in Lagos State Model Colleges, saying the training was aimed at educating House managers, food vendors and stakeholders in Lagos State Model Colleges on the need to prioritise safety and security in boarding schools.
He noted that the Lagos State Safety Commission has been working tirelessly to ensure that all schools in the state adhere strictly to safety standards and protocols.
“As a responsible government, the safety of our students cannot be compromised; we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our students to learn and grow,” he said.
Mojola, represented by the Technical Adviser, Mr Seun Awojobi, highlighted the critical roles house managers and vendors play in ensuring the safety and security of students in boarding schools.
According to him, the safety sensitisation programme is part of the state government’s efforts to prioritise the safety and well-being of students in Lagos State Model Colleges.
He disclosed that the Commission would continue to work with stakeholders to ensure that all schools in the state adhere to safety standards and protocols. “You are the eyes and ears of the school, and we rely on you to help us identify potential safety risks and prevent accidents,” he said.
He urged the participants to implement the knowledge and skills acquired in their schools, adding, “Together, we can create a safe and secure environment for our students to thrive”.
In her remarks, Dr Ronke Soyombo, the Special Adviser on Education in Ogun State and former Director General, Education Quality Assurance in Lagos State, harped on effective quality service delivery, optimum housekeeping, emotional intelligence, the safety and security of the students, and crowd control in the boarding school system.
