Lagos Govt, Schneider Electric Partner On Eco-sustainability

To mark the World Cleanup Day, Schneider Electric has partnered with Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources in the clean-up exercise in Bada community, Idera market, and Ewenla garage, Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos.

The event, themed “Make Room for Life,” marked World Cleanup Day, an annual global initiative uniting millions to combat the waste crisis. Schneider Electric extended its commitment beyond energy efficiency, taking direct action to promote environmental responsibility.

Present at the clean-up and sensitization were special adviser to the governor on environment and water resources, Engr. Olakunle Rotimi Akodo; senior special assistant to the governor on environment, Mrs. Tari Taylaur; Director, sanitation services department, Dr. Hassan Sanuth; Vice chairman, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Mrs Modupelola Badmus; Iyaloja general, Oshodi, Chief. Mrs. Sikirat Ejide; Marketing communications specialist, Schneider Electric, Grace Ajayi and other top government officials, Schneider Electric employees and its team, gentlemen of the press, other key representatives, and volunteers.

The director of sanitation services, Dr. Hassan Sanuth, said, “This is a United Nations-designated initiative recognized as both a national and global World Cleanup Day. Today, Lagos State focused on Oshodi-Isolo, Local Government and selected three locations for the clean-up exercise: Bada community, Idera market, and Ewenla garage to commemorate this event.

“All motor parks and markets actively participated in this initiative. We are pleased that this exercise aims to raise continuous awareness and encourage the sustained maintenance of a cleaner Lagos.”

Representing the country president, Schneider Electric West Africa, Marketing Communications Specialist, Grace Ajayi, spoke on Schneider Electric’s reason for participating in the cleaning exercise, “Schneider Electric is the most sustainable company in the world(Time Magazine, 2024), our participation in this clean-up exercise is to show our commitment to Lagos State that we are here for impact and to drive not just a healthy and clean environment but sustainability across the state. We appreciate Lagos State Government for collaborating with us on this initiative and we look forward to creating greater impact in future.”
