Lagos Police Confirm Death Of Electrician, Nab 4 Cultists For Alleged Murder

A 45-year-old electrician (name withheld) was confirmed dead after he was electrocuted while reconnecting electricity cables to a pole in the Shasha area of Lagos State.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Lagos State Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed this in a statement he made available to journalists on Sunday in Lagos.

According to Hundeyin, the incident occurred when the deceased was reconnecting cables to an electric pole on August 10 at 11:30 a.m.

“A team of police detectives visited the scene, he was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Meanwhile, an Investigation is in progress,” Hundeyin said.

In another development, operatives of the Tactical Squad of the Command in Surulere, on July 17, 2025, at about 4:40pm, arrested four suspected cultists at their hideout in Ebute Meta over alleged involvement in murder.

Hundeyin named the suspects as “Raphael Ashim ‘m’ aged 30, Wasiu Kareem ‘m’ aged 33, Sadiq Olabisi ‘m’ aged 40, and Ibrahim Abdul ‘m’ aged 22,” saying police investigation linked the suspects to recent murder of one 30-year-oid Kamoru.

Consequently, the police image maker stated that manhunt for other gang members was ongoing.
