The president, Rotary Club Lagos Central, Mr Yomi Benson, on Tuesday in Lagos, said the club’s initiative tagged: “Feed Today” was not just to distribute meals but to share in an act of solidarity and hope.

Benson said the goal was to be straightforward and impactful by providing nourishment to 200 individuals from the Broad Street community and surrounding areas.

He said the “Feed Today” initiative was more than just a meal distribution; but was a testament to what could be achieved when people came together for a common purpose.

He added that the development embodied the commitment of Rotarians to service above self, and that it addressed the immediate needs of the community through compassion and action.

“I want to acknowledge the tireless efforts of our club members, volunteers, and local partners who have worked diligently to organise today’s event as your dedication is the backbone of our success.

“To our donors and supporters, your generosity fuels our mission and enables us to reach further into the community, touching more lives than we could alone.

“I encourage each of you to engage with one another, share stories, and build connections as it is in these interactions that we find the strength and inspiration to continue our work and expand our impact.

“Today is just one of many initiatives we undertake throughout the year to make a difference in our community. Your continued support and participation are what make sustainable change possible.

“Let us move forward with hope and determination to not only feed bodies but also to nourish souls and strengthen the bonds within our community,” he said.

Mrs Ibironke Fadele, one of the beneficiaries, described the initiative as a testament to the club’s compassion for indigent members of the community.

She said the development should be replicated across various locations to alleviate the impact of the current economic realities on residents and citizens.

Fadele also urged government to continue with its various interventions geared towards mitigating the impacts of fuel subsidy removal and inflation on ordinary citizens. (NAN)
