The special adviser to Lagos State governor on Infrastructure, Engineer Olufemi Daramola revealed this when he led the technical team to the Office of Infrastructure to inspect some of the strategic sites to check the progress of work on site.

According to him, it is important to monitor the progress in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s mandate concerning the completion of ongoing road infrastructure projects across the state.

Throwing light on the Omu Creek Road, which according to him is one of the strategic projects that is ongoing, he said the road has a five-kilometre road with 600 metres of bridge, adding that it is only 1.1 kilometres from the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

He said, “The contractor is presently on site working and what we have witnessed today is really good progress. There has been a lot of soil reclamation exercise on the project and we have also done the right-of-way acquisition.

“There has been a lot of soil reclamation and right-of-way acquisition. Also, a lot of soil replacement has gone on. We have been able to get to the abutment points where the bridge works will start. A lot of soil investigation is going on and the progress is very commendable. The way it is, we will see much more progress soon.”

Harping on the damaged Alapere Pedestrian Bridge Daramola said the damaged Alapere pedestrian bridge is progressing as scheduled and would be completed before the end of the third quarter in 2024.

“You would recall when the incident occurred, and there was a lot of construction going on within that alignment as well. The federal government was working on the third mainland bridge and we had to synchronize the repair works.”

The special adviser said there is good progress recorded so far on the pedestrian bridge saying, “The foundation works have been done and the elements for the beams are all being cast off-site. Precast elements are all being set off-site and we are making good progress on it. The headroom will be improved and in another couple of months, I’m sure that project will be completed.”

He added that the state government is also working on a network of roads in Ikoyi, saying the inspection revealed that there is a very good progress.
