Lagos To Host 7th Africa Illustrious Awards Honouring African Excellence

Lagos will host the seventh edition of the prestigious Africa Illustrious Awards, as distinguished personalities from across the continent prepare to converge for a celebration of excellence, leadership, and transformational impact.

The award ceremony is slated for June 6, 2026, at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, with attendees expected from Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Algeria, Egypt, and several other African nations.

According to the organisers, the event will assemble some of Africa’s brightest minds and most respected figures whose contributions in business, innovation, entrepreneurship, academia, technology, philanthropy, leadership, and public service have continued to drive growth and development across the continent.

The ceremony is also expected to include special honours for the Nigeria national football team and the Nigeria Olympic football team in recognition of their historic accomplishments and contributions to the global rise of African football.

Organisers explained that the recognition is intended to celebrate the enduring legacy of both teams, whose performances inspired millions of Africans and helped place Nigerian football firmly on the global stage.
