Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday disclosed that more vocational training programmes would be introduced in the state to enhance the digital literacy initiatives and ensure that every school in the state has access to modern technology and resources.
The governor made the pledge at the commissioning of new blocks of classrooms at Ipara Junior College, Majiyagbe; State Junior High School Ibereko, Badagry; Awori Junior College, Ojo and Thogli Community Grammar School, Badagry spearheaded by the Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools.
He stressed that every child must have a strong foundation in education for the future and the overall development of the society.
According to him, the new development will not only benefit students but also empower the communities with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
These milestones, he said, further underscore the dedication of his administration to ensure that every child, regardless of their background or location, has access to quality education.
The governor, represented by his special adviser on Agriculture, Dr Oluwarotimi Fashola at Thogli Community Grammar School, Badagry, said in addition, the state government is about to complete the reconstruction and delivery of a new ultra-modern Tolu School Complex at Ajegunle in Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA, comprising 36 different schools, a health centre, a fire station, an ICT hub, an inclusive school and a multi-purpose Sports Complex.
He said education must be an inclusive and equitable reason why these facilities are built to serve every child in this community regardless of background or circumstance ensuring that they have access to the tools they need to succeed in life.
“This project reflects our administration’s determination to bridge the gap between urban and rural schools so that no child is left behind in our quest for educational excellence,” he stated.
At Ipara Junior College Majiyagbe, the governor stated that the projects reflect their vision to create an inclusive, modern educational system that supports the growth and success of all students while driving progress in our communities.
