Lagos Twins Charged With Stone, Stick Attack On Electricity Workers

The Lagos State Police arraigned Hassan Nurudeen and Hussien Nurudeen, both 20 years old, at the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting two staff members of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).

The twin brothers, whose addresses are unknown, faced a three-count charge including assault, malicious damage, and attack but pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, the incident occurred on November 27, around 1:35 p.m. at Evangelist Bello David Str. Aradagun, Badagry area of Lagos.

The defendants were accused of using a stone and stick to inflict injury on the left eye of Lamidi Akeem, an EKEDC staff. They also allegedly damaged a Samsung Galaxy A41 phone valued at N153,000 belonging to another EKEDC staff, Enemwo Clement.

“The twins allegedly damaged one Samsung Galaxy A41 phone valued at N153,000 belonging to one Enemwo Clement, a staff of EKEDC. The defendants also assaulted the two staff of EKEDC,” he said.

ASP Okuoimose highlighted that the twins assaulted both EKEDC staff during the incident.

The prosecutor stated that the accused actions contravened Sections 173, 339, and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate Mr. Fadaunsi Adefioye granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned until January 8 for mention.
