Lagos Unveils Talent Hunt Competition In Schools

Lagos State government, through a new initiative titled: ‘Eko Arts and Crafts Competition,’ is set to discover, nurture, and showcase the talents in secondary schools and tertiary institutions across the State.

The senior special assistant to the Governor on Tourism, Art and Culture, Damilola Ayinde Marshal disclosed this during a press conference at Alausa, Ikeja.

The conference, convened yesterday, was to formally announce the unveiling of the maiden edition of the Eko Arts and Crafts Competition for secondary schools and tertiary institutions in the State.

The aide who unveiled the registration portal said it serves as a platform for students of secondary schools and tertiary institutions to register in the state.

Participants are expected to register and submit their entries between September 11 and 18, and the competition will eventually occur between September 18 and October 2.

Marshal stated that the governor has approved scholarship awards for the winners at the end of the exercise.

She explained that under the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda of the State Governor, the 5th pillar, ‘Entertainment and Tourism’ continued to demonstrate the unwavering commitment to harnessing creativity, empowering young people, and positioning Lagos as Africa’s cultural and entertainment hub.

The SSA noted that in addressing the Governor’s vision, the Eko Arts and Crafts Competition is one of the strategic interventions to bring the initiative to reality.

Marshal said: “This competition has been carefully designed to discover, nurture, and showcase the immense talent in our secondary schools and tertiary institutions across Lagos.”
