Real Madrid is determined to continue their pursuit of the LaLiga title after falling four points behind Barcelona, according to under-pressure coach Alvaro Arbeloa.
The team will face Celta Vigo on Friday, aiming to close the gap ahead of Barcelona’s match against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
Following two consecutive defeats, Madrid is keen to regain form and is aware of the challenges that lie ahead. Arbeloa, who succeeded Xabi Alonso as coach in January, emphasised, “We’re four points behind, not 18. As long as we can mathematically fight, we will.”
Injuries have plagued the squad, with Brazilian winger Rodrygo Goes sidelined along with Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Eder Militao. Nevertheless, Arbeloa is adamant that the team must showcase their true potential, stating, “It’s in moments like these that you see if we’re worthy of wearing this shirt and this badge.”
Real Madrid is also preparing for a Champions League clash against Manchester City next Wednesday, with hopes that injured players Mbappe and Bellingham will recover in time.
