The member representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency Plateau State, Hon. Ishaya Lalu, has flagged off the distribution of 13 trucks of free fertilisers to his constituents.
Our correspondent recalled that the Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, which is predominately farmers, came under heavy attacks by suspected bandits in December last year; as a result, over 100 people were killed, and farm produce worth millions of naira was destroyed in the process.
During the distribution of fertilisers in Mangu town, he emphasised the vital role agriculture played in his constituency, as many of his constituents rely on farming for their livelihoods.
He also assured that farmers in the area would get free fertilisers irrespective of tribe, religion, and political affiliation.
“It is my duty to represent not only the rich but also the poor, especially the farmers. Since their major activities are in agriculture, fertilizer is significant and dear to their hearts. ”
The federal lawmaker also disclosed that he had drilled solar-powered boreholes across all job zones in Mangu and Bokkos to alleviate the people’s suffering regarding clean drinking water.
Lalu, also a member of the Renewable Energy Committee in the House of Representatives, further highlighted the environmental and economic advantages of solar-powered boreholes.
According to him, solar power energy promotes clean emissions while the benefits from carbon credits align with global renewable energy standards.
