Governorship candidates of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, Mustapha Sule Lamido and 16 others yesterday visited Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Prominent among the governorship candidates were those of Sokoto, Kaduna and Katsina States.
At the time of filing this report last night, the meeting had not ended.
Meanwhile, Wike has fixed the commissioning of the Ahoada campus of the Rivers State University (RSU) for tomorrow, which the PDP National Executive Council (NEC) is expected to meet on the raging crisis in the party.
The campus, located along Ahoada-Omoku Road in Ahoada-East local government area will be commissioned at 11 am by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
However, it was not clear last night if Wike would attend the meeting considering the ongoing face-off between him and the PDP national leadership.
Consequently, his loyalists doubted the possibility of the meeting holding on the scheduled date.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt, a former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke, said, “We all wait and see what will play out.
“Let’s watch and see what is going to play out. Frankly, are they certain that the meeting is going to hold because there had been occasions where they said they are going to meet, only to call it off at the last minute,” he said.
