The sudden death of a 26-year-old lady from Akwa Ibom State, Peace Moses, has jolted residents of Rumuoke axis of Ada-George Road in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Members of the Love Channel Christian Centre, located within the axis, where she was a committed member, are also not left out in the shock that has trailed the tragic incident.
Peace was knocked down and killed on Monday evening by a convoy of about 16 fast-moving vehicles on her way from an evening church service.
LEADERSHIP Sunday took out time to visit the slain lady’s residence and the church, which recently relocated to its own building, although still under construction.
At her residence, she occupied a self-contained apartment, along with her younger sister. Her younger was said to have travelled to their village the day after the unfortunate incident.
It was also gathered that Peace moved into the apartment about six months before the ugly incident and was already friendly with all in the neighbourhood within the short period.
It was also gathered that her young parents came on Thursday to clear her belongings, including electronics from the apartment and took the same to the village.
Speaking with our correspondent, one of Peace’s neighbours, Mr Clifford John, described her as a friendly and jovial person.
John said, “Peace was a very good neighbour and friendly. She packed in here about six months ago but when you see us chatting, you will think we have known for ages.”
Another neighbour of hers, Madam Patricia, who operates a hair dressing salon along the street, said the late Peace was so homely, adding that her friendship had no boundaries.
At the Love Channel Christian Centre premises, workers’ meeting was going on as at the time our correspondent arrived.
Members of the Church who spoke with LEADERSHIP Sunday on the condition of anonymity, described the late Peace as a God-fearing lady, who was committed to the things of God.
One of the members hinted that she was to get married to a Nigerian gospel singer, Baruch Okeoghene, in a few months.
However, a senior pastor of the church, Nkem Oguamalam, said he would not speak with our correspondent until the church’s leadership meeting was concluded.
Oguamalam stated that it was at the meeting that the decision on the burial of Peace would be discussed.
