“We believe that with this training if it is well utilised, it will definitely go a long way to make the beneficiaries as an ambassadors in
poultry production in Kogi State.

“Through this training, the participants will have positive multiplying effects on the people because there will be off-takers, marketers, retailers who will buy and sell to make the business boom,” he said.

While cautioning the beneficiaries against selling the starter packs
given to them to kick start their businesses, Yusuf urged them not to see the training as ordinary one, noting that the best form of
empowerment is education which has been given to them through the
training to acquire all the requisite knowledge and techniques needed to triumph in modern poultry production.

“We expect you to make use of the training so that you can replicate
that to some of the youth and women who were not opportuned to be part of this training,” he added.

He commended the lawmaker for putting smiles on the faces of the
participants who have lost hope in the business and urged other
lawmakers in the State to emulate the empowerment style of Hon. Yusuf Ahmed Tijjani Damisa.

In his remarks at the occasion, the lawmaker, Hon. Damisa, who was
represented by one of his aides, Hon. Abdulsalam Okunaiye, said the
training and empowerment was one of the numerous empowerment programmes the lawmaker
has provided for the people of his constituency since he became a Member of House of Representatives in 2011.

According to him, the participants were selected on the basis of passion they have for poultry farming, assuring that the beneficiaries would not
sell the starter packs, rather they would use it for the purpose it was
meant for.

“In the past we trained beneficiaries of empowerment and give them
starter packs, regrettably we discovered that some of them do sell the items, but now we select the participants based on the passion and interest they have for the farming.

“The purpose of the training is to engage the participants on meaningful project that will eventually take them out of abject poverty and to create stability in their income in order to make them self-reliant and also be employers of labour
