“For me, it is quite encouraging to get this kind of award. It means that there is something I am doing well, and to whom much is given, much is expected,” she said, adding that the award would inspire her to do more for both humanity and the banking sector.

While presenting the award letter to Umeoji,  Mr Okpere said the award was conferred on her and other awardees after a thorough assessment of their positive impacts on the country’s political and economic growth.

Okpere noted that the LEADERSHIP award sets the pace in Nigeria’s media industry, adding that the formal presentation of the award to recipients was scheduled for April 8, 2025, in Abuja

With over 30 years of banking experience, Mrs Umeoji is an exemplary figure in Nigeria’s financial sector. She was appointed in June 2024 as the group managing director and chief executive officer of Zenith Bank, where she is already making an impact.

She has harnessed her extensive experience and strategic mindset to steer the bank towards sustained growth and stability in a challenging economic landscape.

Her initiatives on strengthening digital banking, expanding access to financial services, and enhancing customer experience have kept the bank at the forefront of Nigeria’s financial industry.
