Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has accepted the LEADERSHIP Governor of the Year 2023 award, saying that it will spur him to do more for the people of the state.
The governor said this while receiving the company’s management led by the vice chairman, Mike Okpere in his office in Ibadan yesterday.
According to him, since the award was given based on what the assessors saw that his administration has been doing, there was the need to continue to do more.
The governor, who officially welcomed the team, appreciated LEADERSHIP management for the nomination as the governor of the year 2023.
Earlier, the company’s vice chairman, Mike Okpere, who was accompanied by the director, conferences, Abraham Nda-Isaiah, and director, Southern Operations, Bunmi Olowoyo commiserated with the governor and the people on the recent explosion which claimed lives and left others injured.
In the letter presented to the governor stating reasons behind the award, Okpere explained, “Amid several nominees with excellent credentials, you have been selected for this prestigious award for investing in infrastructural development to keep up with the growing population of your state; creating jobs in both the formal and informal sectors, and ensuring Oyo is among the top five states in Nigeria with year-on-year growth in internally generated revenue.
“The selection board found you most qualified as the Governor of The Year 2023.”
