LEADERSHIP HAUSA, a leading Hausa newspaper from LEADERSHIP Media Group Abuja, Nigeria, organised a Valentine-themed short love story competition for its social media followers. The competition, which concluded on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at noon, received entries from 63 participants showcasing their writing skills and creativity.
The winners were unveiled on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, through a WhatsApp video call with the attendance of the LEADERSHIP team, including Mr Samuel Ossai, head of the Digital Team, Alhaji Bello Hamza, editor of LEADERSHIP Hausa, Malam Muhammad Bashir Amin, head of the LEADERSHIP Hausa Online Team and Naziru Adam Ibrahim, social media manager of the LEADERSHIP Hausa online platform.
The final results of the competition were released during the meeting, and winners were celebrated for their outstanding contributions. The first position prize went to Aliyu Usman Adam, who hails from Zaria Kaduna State, with a story titled “Wani Hani Ga Allah”, and was awarded ₦50,000. The second position goes to Zainab Muhammad from Kano State, with her story titled “So Sila”, and she goes home with ₦25,000. The third position was awarded to Mujaheed Matashi from Kano State, who wrote the story titled ‘Rabon Kwado’ and was awarded ₦10,000.
In his remark, the editor of LEADERSHIP Hausa, Alhaji Bello Hamza, thanked the senior vice chairman and Editor-In-Chief, Mr Azu Ishiekwene, for initiating and approving the competition’s takeoff. He also congratulated all participants and encouraged them to continue supporting LEADERSHIP Hausa by following and disseminating its content.
He also commended the efforts of the judges, particularly Muhammad Bashir Amin, head of the Hausa Online Team and senior content manager, and his assistants Naziru Adam Ibrahim and Abubakar Sulaiman for their dedication in evaluating the entries and their fairness in reviewing and selecting the winning stories.
In his remarks, the Head of the LEADERSHIP Digital Team, Mr Samuel Ossai, acknowledged the judges for their hard work and congratulated the winners, emphasising the importance of such competitions in promoting Hausa literature and engaging the community.
On behalf of the winners, Zainab Muhammad, who came second, extended heartfelt gratitude to LEADERSHIP Hausa for the opportunity and promised to continue supporting the platform by amplifying its work and contributing to its growth.
