The Leadtech School of Management and Technology, Anagada, Abuja, has officially welcomed its first cohort of students during its maiden matriculation ceremony, underscoring a strong commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and technology-driven research.

The historic event also unveiled three academic publications developed by the institution: NGO Management and Administration, Practical Research Skills for Tertiary Institutions, and Leadership in Theory and Practice for Tertiary Institutions.

Speaking at the ceremony, the chairman of the Governing Board and former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mamman Ibrahim Tsafe (Rtd), urged the students to embrace discipline, resilience, and hard work in their academic pursuits.

“This is an auspicious beginning. I am impressed with what has been achieved in such a short time. Students must adopt a strong reading culture and embrace technology-driven research to excel and contribute meaningfully to national development,” Tsafe said.

Tsafe acknowledged Nigeria’s prevailing security challenges but expressed confidence in ongoing efforts to overcome them.

He commended the institution’s leadership, including the Rector and Registrar, for their dedication to laying a solid academic foundation.

Delivering his address, the Rector and Vice Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Musbau Abdulazeez, described the event as a milestone in a journey that began less than two years ago.

“From the construction of this temporary campus to securing official approvals, and now this matriculation, it has been a deliberate effort to bridge the gap in Nigeria’s technical education sector,” he said.

Dr. Abdulazeez revealed that Leadtech was inspired by the Tuskegee Institute of Technology in the United States, which started with a single student in 1898 and has grown into a world-renowned institution.

“We are adopting that model to produce graduates who are technically sound, intellectually equipped, and capable of leading in research and innovation,” he said.

He highlighted that one of the newly unveiled books was developed to demystify research methodology for students, especially the often intimidating aspects of quantitative and statistical analysis.

“Our goal is to equip students with both theoretical and practical knowledge. We are not just producing certificate holders—we are grooming job creators,” he noted.

Also, the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Bukola F. Abdulazeez charged the students to uphold discipline, good character, and integrity as ambassadors of Leadtech.

“You must represent this institution with pride and purpose. We are not just raising students—we are nurturing leaders,” she said.

She added that Leadtech’s philosophy is anchored on leadership through technology and skill acquisition. “Reading, character, and competence are central to our vision of producing empowered, innovative graduates,” she said.

The event drew stakeholders in the education sector, members of the academic community, and residents, all of whom praised the institution’s vision and bold steps toward transforming tertiary education in Nigeria.
