Nollywood actor Lege Miami and Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, have engaged in a social media war of words following Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the Super Eagles lost to the Democratic Republic of Congo last Sunday, a defeat that ended Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the World Cup for the second consecutive time.

In the aftermath, criticism poured in for Nwabali, with Lege Miami, born Kehinde Adams, joining the chorus.

The actor took to social media to accuse the Chippa United goalkeeper of “playing too much” during the match.

His commentary also included a personal jab referencing Nwabali’s late father.

Nwabali fired back on his Instagram story, issuing a stern warning, “Lege Miami, remove my late dad’s name from your mouth if you’re doing your content. If you don’t respect people’s dad, you should learn to respect the dead. I’m not your regular type of footballer. I go beat you mercilessly. You’re free to insult me, but remove my late dad’s name from your mouth.”

Responding, Lege Miami issued a conditional apology for mentioning Nwabali’s father but quickly turned to attacking the goalkeeper’s attitude and performance.

He accused Nwabali of being “very rude” to his teammates and trying to “control the whole pitch” instead of focusing on his goalkeeping duties.

Lege further criticised him for “hanky-panky” on the pitch and failing to provide stability and courage to the team.

“First of all, if I mentioned your late dad’s name and made you upset, I am sorry. But you are very rude. You are rude to your colleagues. You want to be controlling the whole pitch. You don’t listen to correction,” he said.

“Your hanky-panky on the pitch is too much. You are supposed to be giving your colleagues the courage they need. You also need to be stable. You were playing with football inside box 18. Are you the only goalkeeper in Nigeria? You make a lot of mistakes.”

Lege added that Nwabali had no right to send him insulting messages, warning the goalkeeper to stay out of his DMs.

He concluded by demanding that Nwabali “make a video and apologise to all Nigerians.”
