The director general of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman has called for improved capacity building for the elected and non-elected stakeholders serving in democratic institutions at all levels of government in the country.
Sulaiman made the call during his working visit to the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilorin, Kwara State.
He told the leadership of the APC in the state of the preparedness of NILDS to train their personnel for enhanced service delivery.
He said the proposed partnership to train the personnel of the party should not be misconstrued, pointing out that,” it is in tandem with the core mandate of the institute which has the reputation to have trained legislature, chairmen, councillors and political bigwigs drawn from all the tiers of government in over 20 states of the country.”
Sulaiman commended the Kwara State governor , AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his visionary and impactful leadership and for creating enabling environment for the partnership between the NILDS and the state ‘s chapter of APC.
The state secretary of APC, Alh Mustapha Salman who represented the party’s chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi,appreciated the opportunity for the partnership to train the personnel of the party whom he said are yawning to be trained like their counterparts in other states who had undergone training programmes organised by NILDS.
He commended Sulaiman for being a worthy ambassador of Kwara State and for putting up a superlative performance in his place of work.
