The elders’ council and stakeholders in the Labour Party (LP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have called on the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, and Senator Ireti Kingibe, to work together.

According to the council, the FCT masses will suffer of the two keep fighting each other publicly.

At a press conference in Abuja yesterday, Alhaji Sani Zamfara, a leader of the elders’ council, said Wike and Ireti Kingibe should work together for the betterment of the people of Abuja.

“But Wike should know his jurisdiction. There shouldn’t have been a problem. It’s just a matter of understanding. The Minister should have told the Senator that this is where we should go.

“They must work in synergy because it is the people of Abuja that will suffer from their fight,” Zamfara said, adding, “We must team up together and say no to their misunderstanding.”

Also, a communique issued by the Labour Party elders council chairman and signed by Elder Chika Nwobu, which was read by Madam Felicia Ibrahim Waziri, said fighting a woman is not good.

“As elders, we are to encourage, advise and warn when necessary. We are, therefore, encouraging him to work harder as a minister. We advise him to study his job description properly and see why working with our distinguished senator is imperative.

“And, of course, we warn him to desist from attacking the harmless and peaceful woman we carefully elected to represent us at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly. She understands our problems more than him. All he needs is to liaise with her for optimal performance.

“Above all, we must remind our dear Minister that fighting a woman is not an act of bravery in any part of the globe; the elders said while rolling out the achievements of Ireti.

“She constructed a 50-bedroom hospital in Dobi, Gwagwalada, Abuja, constructed a road in Karu, AMAC, Abuja, provided boreholes in Abuja South, paid school fees and JAMB registration fees for children of the underprivileged across FCT,” they said.
