Madonna University has commemorated its 25th anniversary with a week-long celebration at its main campus in Elele, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Established in 1999 by the Very Reverend (Prof) E. M. P. Edeh, the university stands as a beacon of academic excellence and moral fortitude.
As the first private and Catholic university in Nigeria, it has carved a distinguished path, nurturing generations of professionals who have left an indelible mark on society.
A statement by Kofon Ekanem said dignitaries from various spheres of influence graced the occasion, adding to the grandeur of the festivities.
Among them were notable figures such as Mr. Peter Obi, the former two-term governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, and Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who proudly counts himself as an alumnus of the institution.
The celebration also saw the convergence of Madonna University Alumni Association (MUAA) delegates from across Nigeria, each representing their respective state chapters with pride and camaraderie.
The MUAA Lagos chapter chairman, Prince Olisaemeka Idigo, and the PRO, Ms. Kofon Ekanem, led a high powered delegation from the state chapter to grace the event where they joined forces with other esteemed members to reminisce and reconnect.
A highlight of the anniversary festivities was the giving of merit awards to outstanding alumni who distinguished themselves in their respective fields.
Among the recipients were luminaries such as Mr. Chuka Nwachukwu, national president of MUAA and Mr. Nonso Okafor, MUAA’s national publicity secretary.
