The management of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, has declared that Coach Abdul Maikaba is still the technical adviser of the club.
The administrative secretary of the club, Ferdinand Ugwuarua, disclosed in Enugu on Wednesday, saying his contract continues as the Nigeria Professional Football League and Federation Cup last.
Ugwuarua urged fans of the club to disregard speculations in some sections of the media that the club had held talks with another coach.
He described the online media report as mere speculation targeted at derailing the team from achieving its set targets.
“How can anyone talk of a coach contract at this stage when we are focused on ending the abridged league season on a high and continuing our fine run in the Federation Cup 2023.
“These are mere speculations that come with end-of-season activities as I can attest to the fact that we still have a running contract with our technical adviser,” he said.
He said: “We cannot be distracted as I believe that is what the flyer of that material wants to achieve.
“The team is united in the chase for a top-six finish as well as emerging winners of the Federation Cup 2023 as motivation is high.
The players are responding well to drills from the coaching crew ,headed by Maikaba who I believe has what it takes to lead us to our seventh Challenge/Aiteo/Federation Cup in June,” he said.
Rangers will this weekend trade tackles with defending NPFL champions, Rivers United FC in a match day 18 of the abridged league group B fixture in Awka. (NAN)
